Altar Servers

.

In the liturgy, you are much more than simple ‘helpers of the parish priest.’ Above all, you are servers of Jesus Christ, of the eternal High Priest. Thus, you, altar servers, are called in particular to be young friends of Jesus. Be determined to go deeper and to cultivate this friendship with him. You will discover that in Jesus you have found a true friend for life.

— Pope John Paul II, August 1, 2001

Thank you to all of our altar servers and their parents for their commitment.  Altar Serving is both a privilege and a help to the parish, and we are grateful that you will be active in the Mass in this role.

What does an altar server do?

  • Assists the priest and deacon in the celebration of  the Mass and other liturgies
  • Aids the community in its worship
  • Participates in the Mass as a member of the community (Prays & Pays attention)
  • Serves Jesus Christ

Why?

For love of God. And we meet him through the Church community, the ordained minister, holy communion (the Eucharist), common prayer, and the proclamation of the Word of God.
